Because the population balance in Mesa shifted between 2000 and 2010, the City is undergoing a redistricting process, led by a five-member Council Redistricting Commission, with the assistance of a consultant, National Demographics Corporation.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, Mesa’s population increased from 397,760 to 439,041.
