Celebrate Mesa, a free party in the park, celebrates the fall season with games, carnival rides, entertainment and more Saturday, Oct. 21 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Red Mountain Soccer Complex, 905 N. Sun Valley Blvd.

Families are encouraged to dress up for Halloween, grab a special treat at the entrance, go trick-or-treating at all City department booths and check out the Police and Fire vehicles and two “haunted buses.” Free raffle prizes and give-a-ways will also be available, along with a free showing of the Lego Batman movie at 7:30 p.m.

New this year are hypnotist Jeff Bliss, who will perform at 8 p.m.; three virtual reality games and Fall Festival games.

Celebrate Mesa will include live music from 80s cover band Rock Lobster, Dino Encounter, a petting zoo and food trucks. There will also be Superheroes such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Spiderman and Ironman as well as Disney characters like Belle and Cinderella.

There will be bounce houses, kids rides, a rock climbing wall and lots of other free activities. For $5, you can buy a wristband to give you unlimited use of the Virtual Reality Zone and carnival rides (age and height restrictions may apply).

A group of special needs athletes will be selling water and glow items. Donations will support the athletes with an upcoming out-of-state competition.

City staff will be taking a survey about the event. Participants will have the opportunity to win a $50 Amazon gift card. You can also give input to Imagine Mesa, a new initiative to engage residents.
