Hacienda HealthCare opens Hacienda Children's Hospital in Mesa
Hacienda HealthCare held a ribbon cutting ceremony July 1 for the official grand opening of Hacienda Children’s Hospital, 610 W. Jerome Ave., in Mesa. This 20,900 square-foot pediatric hospital will specialize in high-quality acute and sub-acute care for infants, children and teens, much like the services provided by its Phoenix hospital, Los Ninos Hospital.
“At Hacienda Children’s Hospital we are proud to now be able to offer our exceptional services in the east valley. We are a hospital that is small in size, but big in caring. Families can enjoy our private rooms in a beautiful setting while staying with their little ones while they heal,” Director of Nursing and Hacienda Children’s Hospital Administrator Jennefer Frost said.
The new hospital offers 24/7 visitation, furniture to provide families and friends with comfortable overnight stays and a playground for siblings and friends of the patients.
“The healthcare community in this part of Mesa is strong, and the addition of a sub-acute children’s hospital will fill a need felt across the Valley,” Mayor John Giles said. “Congratulations Hacienda HealthCare and welcome to Mesa.”
Hacienda HealthCare received a $700,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the City of Mesa in 2013 and swiftly began the process to get the project underway. Construction began Sept. 22, 2015.
“The addition of Hacienda Children’s Hospital to the Fiesta District is a huge step towards the revitalization of the area. I know they will be a wonderful community partner and the City of Mesa is extremely fortunate to have them right here in our backyard,” Vice Mayor Dennis Kavanaugh said.
Hacienda Children’s Hospital, located near Country Club Drive and Baseline Road, will commence operations July 15.
“I applaud the great work that Hacienda HealthCare does on behalf of all of their patients, and the opening of their new Children’s Hospital is just another way they will be serving the youngest among us who need this special care.” Arizona 5th District Representative Matt Salmon said. “I thank everyone at Hacienda HealthCare for their dedication to making our community better.”
RJM Construction, LLC was the contractor for the project while Devenney Group Ltd., Architects designed the hospital.
“Hacienda HealthCare is a center of excellence, providing one-of-a-kind care. The Children’s Hospital is a stellar example of how Hacienda HealthCare continues to follow through on its commitment to Arizona families,” Arizona 9th District Representative Kyrsten Sinema said.
Hacienda HealthCare traces its roots to 1967 when it was founded in Phoenix as “Hacienda de los Angeles” and operated as a single facility serving three children. Today, it offers over 30 programs and services designed to address the medical and therapeutic needs of medically fragile infants, children, teens and young adults, as well as those with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
