Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) #221 covers 2,200 acres and provide duty exemptions, deferrals, and reductions, and up to a 72.9% reduction in state real and personal property taxes.

Military Reuse Zone (MRZ) provides transaction privilege tax exemption, income/premium tax credits for up to five years, and up to a 72.9% reduction in state real and personal property taxes.

The Mesa Gateway Area is home to a large number of international aerospace, defense, heavy industrial, manufacturing, and technology companies as well as numerous educational institutions.

Aerospace/Aviation & Defense – The Mesa Gateway Area hosts world-class players including Embraer, Cessna, Able Engineering, Nammo Talley, and Orbital ATK.

Technology – In the Mesa Gateway Area you will find ground-breaking technology companies such as the Arizona Center for Algae Technology and Innovation, the Cognitive Engineering Research Institute, Arizona Laboratories for Security & Defense Research (AZ Labs), Bridgestone Biorubber Process Research Center, and the forthcoming Apple global command center.

PHOENIX-MESA GATEWAY AIRPORT

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is the heart of the Mesa Gateway Area. The Airport, a convenient alternative to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, provides commercial service to 38 destinations throughout the U.S. In FY2014, annually, the Airport serves more than 1.2 million passengers and generates more than $1.3 billion of economic impact for Arizona, supporting 10,470 jobs regionally.

With three runways measuring 10,400, 10,200, and 9,300 feet, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport can accommodate the largest aircraft in the world. The Airport has on-site U.S. Customs Service, an FAA-contract air traffic control tower, and various buildings and hundreds of acres available for development.

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is a cost-effective, global business location for maintenance, repair, and aircraft overhaul companies. Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) #221 – FTZ #221 includes more than 2,200 acres surrounding the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. FTZ-qualified companies may bring merchandise into the U.S. and into the FTZ for the purpose of storage, repacking, display, assembly, or manufacturing and may be duty exempt (on re-exports), duty deferred (on imports), or have inverted tariffs, meaning imported inputs may have a lower tariff once manufactured into a finished product.
