Jim Smith is the Mesa City Attorney. Prior to becoming the City Attorney, Smith was a Deputy City Attorney and has been with the City of Mesa since October, 2003. He has worked with numerous City departments including Economic Development, Falcon Field, Transit and Development and Sustainability. Significant transactions he worked on include the Able Engineering, Benedictine University, DMB/Eastmark and light rail agreements.
Prior to joining the City, Smith was an Assistant Attorney General with the Arizona Office of Attorney General, Deputy County Attorney with the Office of the Maricopa County Attorney and practiced law with two private firms in Phoenix.
Smith has a law degree from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University.
