Note: The following questions and answers are provided to clarify
various election processes. Please refer to the links on the right for specific topics related to the
November 5, 2013 Special Bond Election.
Can I vote in the November 5, 2013 Special
Residents who are registered voters in the City of Mesa by
October 7, 2013 are eligible to vote in the November 5, 2013
Special Bond Election. To determine if you are registered to vote in
the City of Mesa, please call the Maricopa County Elections
Department at (602) 506-1511, or click on the Am I
Registered? link on the right.
How many City of Mesa measures will be on the November 5,
2013 Special Bond Election ballot?
The ballot will include two General
Obligation Bond Questions (Public Safety Bonds and Street and
Highway Bonds). Please refer to the right side of this page for the
link to the Ballot Language.
Where can I find information on Mesa’s ballot issues?
On the City Clerk’s Election Information website links. In
addition, prior to the Election, a Publicity Pamphlet will be
mailed to each household containing a registered voter and will
list Mesa’s two measures. The mailing label on the back of the
pamphlet will identify your polling place location. The pamphlet
will also contain any pro/con arguments filed with the City
Clerk's Office. Please refer to the right side of this page for

How can I obtain an early ballot for the November 5, 2013
Special Bond Election?
All Mesa registered voters can request an early ballot either by
calling the Maricopa County Elections Department at (602)
506-1511, the Mesa City Clerk's Office at (480) 644-4868, or by
clicking the Early Voting Ballot Request (by Mail) link
on the right.
When does early voting begin and what is the deadline
for requesting an early ballot to be mailed for the November 5,
2013 Special Bond Election?
Early voting begins on October 10, 2013. The deadline to request
an early ballot by mail is October 25, 2013 and the deadline to
vote in person is 5:00 p.m. on November 1, 2013.
If I signed up to be placed on Maricopa County's Permanent
Early Voting List, will I automatically receive a ballot for
Yes. Unless you request in writing that your name be removed
from the list, you will receive a ballot for this and all future
elections for which you are eligible to vote.
Can someone else pick up my early ballot?
No. An early ballot can only be mailed or provided directly to the voter who has
made a request to vote an early ballot. This is to ensure that no other person
has the opportunity to steal, alter or invalidate an early ballot.
When does my early ballot have to be RECEIVED in order
to be counted?
Please note that for the November 5, 2013 Special Bond Election,
early ballots must be RECEIVED, NOT POSTMARKED, by
7:00 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted. Please make
sure that you return your early ballot by mail well in advance
of the deadline date to ensure that your vote will be counted.
If I forgot to mail back my early ballot in time for
it to be RECEIVED by the deadline, what can I do?
Citizens can drop off their sealed, signed ballots at any
polling place in Maricopa County, or at the Maricopa County
Recorder's Southeast Office, 222 E. Javelina, in Mesa until 7:00
p.m. on Election Day when the polls officially close. You do not

City Clerk's Office, located at 20 E. Main Street, Suite 150,
Mesa, until 7:00 pm on Election Day. Please

Where can I vote early in person?
Early voting in person is available at the Maricopa County
Recorder's Southeast Office, 222 E. Javelina in Mesa, from 8:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can also vote in person at the Mesa City
Clerk’s Office, 20 E. Main Street, Suite 150 in Mesa. Business
hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Early
voting in person begins October 10, 2013 and ends on November 1,

Can I vote at the polls on Election Day even
though I requested and received an early ballot?
Yes, as long as your early ballot has not been
returned. Should you choose to vote at the polls
after you've been issued an early ballot, you will be required to vote a "provisional ballot" at the
polling place. Maricopa County Election officials
will check to verify that your early ballot was not
received before the provisional ballot is counted.

visually impaired and/or disabled citizens who wish

Can I get assistance marking my ballot?
Yes, but only if you are unable to mark your ballot yourself. In that case the
law allows you to obtain assistance from a person of your choice. Ask a trusted

Report any problems at your polling place location

Why does my polling place keep changing?
Every effort will be expended to ensure that voting is as
convenient as possible for all citizens of Mesa. The possibility exists
that previously selected polling place sites may not be
available for this election. We ask voters to carefully check
their Publicity Pamphlet for their polling place location.
In addition, because the sites are subject to change and for
voters' convenience, a link to the County's
Polling Place Locator has been provided. Early voting is
also a great alternative to ensure that your voice is heard.
How can I find out the Election Day results?
Early (Unofficial) Election results will be aired on
Mesa Channel 11
and listed on the City of Mesa's website, as well as
on Maricopa County's website beginning at 8:00 p.m.
When do the election results become Final?
Recent changes in legislation state that the County
now has up to 20 days following the election to
provide Final results. Results will be
aired on Mesa Channel 11 and listed on the websites
for the City of Mesa (www.mesaaz.gov)
and the Maricopa County Elections Department (www.recorder.maricopa.gov).
