Public Meetings

Westwood Utility and Roadway Improvements (Project No. CP0832WR04)

  • Westwood Utility and Roadway Improvements is to replace water and gas utilizes that have reached the end of their service life. Existing traffic signals will be updated and raised pedestrian crossings will be added on Westwood. The project limits are Westwood St. between University Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, and 6th Street between Extension and Country Club.

Northeast Public Safety Facility (Project NO. CP0913)

Red Mountain Shared Use Path - Power Road past Thomas Rd (Project No. CP0733)
  • The Red Mountain SUP will be constructed on the east side of Power Road starting at Mesa’s Power / L-202 Park-and-Ride. Extending north 1.5miles to the city limits, users will have the benefit of a 15-foot pathway, signalized crossing at Power and Redmont Dr, and some landscape improvements.

Engineering Design

Engineering Design utilizes both City and Consultant staff to perform analysis, design and bidding of all of the City of Mesa's capital projects with more than 80% of all projects designed by Consulting Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Engineering firms. Staff is comprised of professional and para-professional personnel, including Registered Professional Engineers, Registered Landscape Architects, Registered Architects, Engineering and Architectural Designers, and Engineering and Architectural CADD Technicians. These projects fall into a variety of categories, including:

  • Airport Facilities
  • All City-Owned Buildings
  • Developer Projects
    (City Share exceeding $100,000)
  • Natural Gas System Facilities
  • Parks & Recreation Facilities
  • Special Improvement Districts
  • Street Transportation Facilities
  • Wastewater System Facilities
  • Water System Facilities

In July of 2018, the City of Mesa Engineering Department initiated a Materials Testing Fee for asphalt, concrete and soils testing. This fee has been added to each Right-of-Way Permit on the Development Services Schedule of Fees and Charges under Civil Engineering Fees. The Development Services Schedule of Fees and Charges can be found by clicking on the Fees & Charges button above.

Engineering Public Relations

Engineering Public Relations provides an information resource to citizens, business establishments, news media and community groups regarding capital improvement projects and permit work. The office also provides extensive outreach to increase awareness about City of Mesa roadway projects and the benefits of new improvements.

Engineering Construction

Engineering Construction utilizes both City and Consultant staff to perform contract administration, inspections of City of Mesa's capital projects and work done in the public right-of-way by private developers, utilities and materials testing.
