Upgrade Kellwood Electrical Substation
Project Number 09-022-002
04/08/2013
The City of Mesa has awarded this project to
ESS
International
Corporation.
The contractor has completed all work.
The City of Mesa will be doing final terminations and
programming and should be complete by next week. The substation
should be up and running by April 29, 2013.
Construction on this project began in June 2012 and is estimated
to be completed in April 2013.
The Kellwood Substation currently has
one 12.47kV transformer-switchgear installation. This project
will install a second transformer-switchgear combination,
install additional protective equipment that will bring the
substation up to date with current industry standards and
replace aging 69kV equipment which is becoming unserviceable,
reaching the end of its useful life. Installation of the second
switchgear provides four (4) new 12kV distribution circuits
needed to complete the remaining circuit conversions from 4.16kV
to 12.47kV.
The recommended total award amount
for this project is $1,177,144.10 based on the lowest bid of
$1,070,131.00, plus an additional $107,013.10 (10% allowance for
change orders). The total amount of $1,177,144.10 is available
in the FY 11/12 Electric Bond Program.
