Pressure Reducing Valve Station 36 at Val Vista
Treatment Plant
Project Number 10-473-001
02/04/2013
The City of Mesa has awarded this project to
SWABS-AZ Inc.
Project is complete.
Construction on this project is scheduled to begin in August 2012 and is estimated
to
be completed in February 2013.
The City’s 2004 Water Master Plan
identified the need for a PRV to be located at North Val Vista
Drive and the South Canal to be able to transfer water from the
Falcon Field Zone to the Northeast City Mini Zone to support
pressures in the Citrus Heights area, north of McDowell Road
between Gilbert Road and Val Vista Drive during peak demand
periods. With the construction of the Lehi Crossings
development to the north, and the subsequent increase in demand,
the PRV will provide a redundant water feed to the Northeast
City Mini Zone, in addition to improving fire flow capabilities.
During Salt River Project (SRP) dry-up events, when operation of
the Northeast City Mini Zone Pump Station is not recommended,
the PRV will provide a way to deliver water to the Northeast
City Mini Zone along with PRV 26.
This project will construct a new PRV
station that will be within a masonry enclosure located on the
Val Vista Water Treatment Plant property that is jointly owned
by the cities of Mesa and Phoenix. It will be located outside
of the plant security perimeter with access for our employees
from N. Val Vista Drive.
The total award amount is $231,577.20
comprised of the lowest base bid of $210,524.73 plus $21,052.47
(10% allowance for change orders). Funding is available in
the FY 11/12 Water Bond Capital Program.
