The City of Mesa selected
Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC
as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) for this
project.
PROJECT COMPLETE
Construction on this project began May 2012 and
is expected to be completed by April 2013.
This project, the City agreed to construct certain
infrastructure improvements (utilities and streets) in the First
Solar Development Agreement approved by Council June 6, 2011.
The City's commitment includes half-street improvements along
the frontage of the proposed First Solar development and utility
improvements within Elliot and Signal Butte Roads. The
improvements include asphalt pavement, sidewalks, street
lighting, storm drainage, water lines and landscaping. GMP
No. 1 awarded August 22, 2011, and now complete, included
wastewater and water improvements in Elliot Road. This GMP
is for the construction of roadway improvements on Elliot Road
and roadway and water line improvements in Signal Butte Road.
The roadway improvements are necessary for the successful
operation of the proposed First Solar project and the water
lines are being constructed to coincide with final paving of the
roadway and to accommodate the near future equipping of Desert
Well 18. All improvements comply with City infrastructure
master planning objectives for the surrounding area.
The estimated construction cost with this GMP is
$4,317,562.94 plus an additional $431,756.29 (10% allowance for
change orders) for a total award of $4,749,319.23. Funding
is available in the FY 11/12 Street and Water Bond Capital
programs and the MCDOT grant.
