Fire Maintenance
Assistant Chief Jim Bloomer
The Fire Department's Fleet Maintenance Division,
headed by Larry Labarbera is staffed with a crew of highly
trained technicians and mechanics. It is a state of the art facility with several work
bays and a fabrication bay.
Fire Maintenance mechanics are responsible for all maintenance of
fire department vehicles, including in-frame engine overhauls,
fire pump & transmission overhauls, and fabrications.
Areas of responsibility for maintenance staff include:
- Fire Department vehicle and apparatus maintenance and
repair
- Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Fire apparatus
maintenance and repair
- Inspections, maintenance and repair of firefighting
equipment
- Fire apparatus training
- Procurement of apparatus, equipment, and vehicles
