Chief of Staff
Kathy Macdonald became Chief of Staff to Mayor Scott
Smith in May of 2009. She is a Southern California native who
relocated to Arizona in 2006.
By the time Ms. Macdonald came to the City of Mesa in 2007, she
had already served in municipal government for over 15 years.
Her background is in public affairs, communications, bilingual
constituent services and water quality. She graduated
magna cum laude from the University of Redlands in California
with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Management. Ms.
Macdonald received her Master's degree in Public Administration
from the University of Phoenix.
As Chief of Staff, Ms. Macdonald is top aide to Mayor Smith
overseeing all activities in the Mayor's office including
appointments to Mesa's Advisory Boards and Committees,
constituent services, iMesa program, special projects and initiatives, Mayor's
Youth Committee, communications and public outreach.
