Mesa Police Academy
Becoming a Police Officer for the Mesa Police Department has
many challenges. One challenge is personal fitness.
Whether you are a candidate or recruit, being physically
prepared will assist with your performance during the testing
process and in the Academy.
The physical performance examination will be administered to
those candidates who successfully pass the written
examination. Applicants will be scheduled for the physical
performance evaluation after the completion of the written
exam. The physical performance evaluation will take place as
early as the following day of the written examination and will
continue throughout the week as necessary.

The physical performance examination is designed to
evaluate a candidate's overall physical condition. The above
listed requirements are a minimum standards list. If you do not
meet minimum standards for the test, you will have to start the
Hiring process over again during our next testing session.
Weekly Training to Prepare for the
Physical Agility Test
The Mesa Police Department may offer weekly training
to prepare for the physical agility test. Stay tuned for
information on this program.
Preparing mentally and physically for the Police Officer
Recruit Academy now can only assist you in successfully meeting
the physical demands of the training required by the Training
Staff.
Note: Applicants must
successfully complete a physical performance examination in
order for the Hiring Unit to schedule you an Oral Board
Interview.
