Senior Police Academy
Program Background
Since 2004, the Mesa
Police Department's Senior Police Academy has provided seniors
in our
community with an inside look at law enforcement. The academy is modeled after
the Citizen Police Academy, but is tailored to the senior community. The academy
is designed to provide seniors with an understanding of the operations and
resources of the Mesa Police Department. Students will interact with police
executives and veteran officers during the academy. The goal of the academy is
to provide a greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement's role in
our community.

Academy Schedule
The 2010-2011 Senior Police Academy begins
on Thursday, October 14, 2010 and will run
through graduation day on March 17, 2011.
The class will meet on Thursday mornings
from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in the Community
Room at our Red Mountain Station located at
4333 E University Drive (University Dr. and
Greenfield Rd.). Eligibility
Potential
candidates must meet
the following criteria:
- 60 years of age or older
- Reside or employed in the City of Mesa
- No prior felony arrests
- No misdemeanor arrests within one year of application
