Waiting Lists

Individuals and families are placed on the waiting list according to the preferences they claim and the time and date of the application.  The time a family must wait for assistance depends on the number of people ahead of them on the waiting list and the amount of available federal funding.

Maintaining Your Status on the Waiting List

Once you are on the waiting list, we will only contact you by mail.  We send out letters by mail when your name comes to the top of the waiting list and at least once a year to update our files.  If you do not respond to our notifications, or your letter is returned undeliverable, your name will be removed from the waiting list.

NEW - Applicant Portal

All changes to your application, such as change of address, phone number, income, or family size, must be made within 10 business days of the change.  All changes to your application should be made through the Applicant Portal, or complete the change form which is available in our office or on the website.  Return the change form to our office in person, by fax (480) 644-2923 or mail to PO Box 1466, Mesa AZ 85211.

Project-Based Waiting Lists Available:

Eligibility for Project-Based Voucher Assistance:

  • You must be CHRONICALLY HOMELESS per the definition below:
    "An individual and/or family who has experienced at least two episodes of shelter living (emergency and/or transitional housing program) and has a substantiated need for long term case management and supportive services."
  • You will also need to meet one of the following:
    • Elderly families or individuals
    • Disabled families or individuals
    • Families needing supportive services
