The Point-In-Time Homeless Street and Shelter Count is an effort to learn more about the individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County and the entire country. In order to accomplish local and federal goals toward ending homelessness, we first need to know who is experiencing homelessness, where they are, and better understand the factors surrounding their homelessness.
Volunteers are needed in January 2018 (date to be determined) from 5:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to survey individuals experiencing homelessness in Mesa, so they can be provided with programs and services that will best fit their needs. No prior experience with the Homeless Count is needed!
Volunteer training sessions will be offered prior to the Count.
On the day of the count, an orientation will be hosted at 5:00 a.m. Then, volunteers will be sent out to their project location by 5:30 a.m. to begin the Homeless Count. Volunteers will be divided into groups of 3 to 4 people for each project location. Volunteers must be able to provide their own transportation to assigned area.
Registration for the 2018 Point-In-Time Count is not yet available. Participants will be able to sign up individually or as a group.
For more information and registration, please check back around December 2017.
