Marc Heirshberg, CPRE
Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities
Responsible for operations, budgeting, planning and strategic management of the department which includes professional baseball stadiums, convention center, amphitheater, golf courses, cemetery, aquatics centers, parks and recreation centers. Heirshberg received his bachelor’s degrees in Recreation Administration and Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Northern Colorado and his master’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Public Administration from Regis University.
Recreation Programs and Operations
Responsible for directing the administration of the aquatics programs and facilitues, Red Mountain Multigenerational Center, neighborhood recreation facilities, and parks maintenance. Other areas of responsibility include the administration of adaptive leisure, open gym, fitness programs, senior programs, special interest classes, adult sports, youth sports and summer camp recreation services, which includes the oversight of a division-wide volunteer program.
Leslie Clark, CPRP
Responsible for performing administrative work in the development, management, implementation and evaluation of a year-round recreation service program for all groups, ages, and interest levels. Clark manages the administrative functions of the recreation operations area to include: development and oversight of comprehensive programming, development of the budget, recommending fees and expenditures, and supervising staff; identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures, determines resource needs and alternative funding mechanisms, fosters partnerships, and implements improvements; represents the department on committees, community agency boards, and councils and establishes cooperative programming with other agencies and human service organizations; develops long-range plans and strategies to obtain goals in the recreation operations area.
Erik Ostlund, CGCS
Commercial Facilities Administrator
Responsible for commercial facility operations including the Dobson Ranch Golf Course, the Mesa Convention Center, Mesa Amphitheatre and Mesa Cemetery and is committed to providing a memorable experience while providing the highest level of customer service. Ostlund joined the City of Mesa in September, 2014. Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Ostlund graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Turfgrass Management and is a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during Desert Storm. Ostlund has gained invaluable operational experience while working at several top golf facilities including 5 Star/5 Diamond Resorts, Private Country Clubs and Public Daily Fee Facilities.
Andrea Moore, CPRE
Park Planning and Operations Administrator
Responsibilities include oversight of implementation of the 2012 Parks Bond program, management of other infrastructure and improvement projects in PRCF facilities, maintenance of the department’s GIS data, development of long and short-term department plans, advocate for continuous improvement in our park system, and administrator over the Aquatics and Park Maintenance Division.
