Join the Cadet Team

There are two orientation sessions (August 30, 2013 at 6 pm and September 11, 2013 at 9 am), where the cadet candidate must attend one of these sessions.  If the candidate is not yet 18 years of age a parent or guardian must be at the orientation session, in order for the candidate to proceed further in the process.  Each session will be held at the Mesa Fire and Medical Department’s Volunteer Center, 2830 East Adobe St, Mesa, AZ 85213.

 

Eligibility Requirements
  • Be 15 years old but not older than 18 years old.
  • Must be currently enrolled in junior high school or high school. (Expected to maintain a 'C' grade average).
  • High school graduates and those with a GED are eligible.

    Program Fees
  • $50.00 refundable deposit is required for the class
  • One Fire Cadet T-shirt

    Applicants unable to pay the fees due to financial hardship should contact Jean Destories.  Alternative funding may be available.

Medical Clearance Required

Firefighting is a physically demanding job. Each Cadet session will include physical activity. All members are required to provide medical clearance prior to starting this program.
