Drop-off Recycling

The City of Mesa offers three 24-hour drop-off location sites for the public to recycle their materials.

Paper

  • Paper
    • Junk mail, paper bags, computer & writing paper
    • Magazines, catalogs, telephone books and newspapers (include inserts)
    • What about shredded paper?
  • Cardboard
    • Packing boxes (please remove packing material)
  • Paperboard
    • Milk, juice & ice cream cartons
    • Facial tissue boxes, cereal, detergent, shoe boxes & other packaging containers


Plastics

  • Cups & containers #1 - #7
    • Plastic bottles, jugs and jars (milk, peanut butter, soda, water, mustard, shampoo, mouthwash, medicine, lotion, detergent, bleach,etc.)
    • Disposable plastic cups
    • Yogurt, cottage cheese, margarine & whipped topping containers
    •  "Clamshell" food containers (e.g.- produce, baked goods, etc.)
    • No Styrofoam, plastic bags or film



Glass

  • Bottles & jars containing a food or beverage when purchased
    • Juice, soda, beer & wine bottles, etc.
    • Baby food, mayonnaise, pickle & jelly jars, etc.

  • Air-conditioning filters
  • Batteries
  • Candy wrappers
  • Clothes hangers, scrap metal, automotive parts
  • Clothing, cloth or rags
  • Diapers
  • Dinnerware (glass or plastic)
  • Dog food bags
  • Fast food items (food, wrappers, or greasy bags)
  • Gift wrap
  • Hazardous waste
  • Inserts from paperboard boxes (plastic bags/trays)
  • Light bulbs, ceramics or window glass
  • Motor-oil containers
  • Packing materials (styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap)
  • Paper towels, napkins, tissues or paper plates
  • Plastic bags (any type)
  • Potato chip bags
  • Propane or oxygen tanks
  • PVC piping
  • Rubber bands or elastic products
  • Styrofoam (including egg cartons)
  • Trash
  • Wood or yard waste

 

Drop-off Center reminders:

  • Recyclables should be relatively clean and unbagged
  • Styrofoam, plastic bags and plastic wrap are not accepted
  • Please break down cardboard boxes and remove all packing material
  • Please keep the area clean - no trash or non-acceptable items allowed

 

Thank you for your recycling participation.  By adhering to these reminders, you will avoid contaminating the recycle bins and therefore avoid jeopardizing this community program.
