Our Recreation Centers provide fun, safe, quality recreation programs for residents and visitors. Whether you’re looking for after school programs, school break camps, special interest classes, a space to flex your fitness goals, hoping to learn a new hobby or searching for a unique venue to host your event, we offer affordable recreation and leisure opportunities for all.
Fitness Center Rules
Fitness Centers located at Red Mountain Center and Eagles Community Center
General
- Consult a physician before starting any fitness program.
- No bags allowed in the fitness center.
- City of Mesa is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Please wipe down equipment after each use.
- No food or drink other than water in a spill proof container.
Age Requirements
- Youth under the age of 13 are not allowed in the fitness area.
- Teens ages 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult 18+.
- 16+ years can use the space without an adult.
Attire
- Athletic shoes are required. No open toed or open back shoes.
- Workout attire is required. No jeans, pants or shorts with zippers/buttons/rivets are allowed on any equipment or in the free-weight/stretching area.
- 30-minute limit on cardio equipment when there is a wait.
Weight Equipment and Free Weight Area
- Please DO NOT REST on the equipment.
- Please allow others to ‘work in’ between sets.
- Slamming or dropping weights is not allowed.
- Please correctly re-rack weights after use.
Cleaning Rags
- Please reuse cleaning rag during workout.
- If cleaning rags are not available, please let a staff member know.
- Please place used rags in the designated bin.
Failure to follow these rules may result in the suspension of facility privileges.
Gymnasium Rules
Gym Rules apply to Red Mountain Center and Eagles Community Center
- Admission pass is required for gym activities.
- Children under the age of 8 must have a 16+ year old with them in the gym. Youth ages 8-12 must have an adult or responsible minor age 16 or older in the facility at all times.
- No full court games or 5-on-5 games.
- No food, drinks, or chewing gum allowed in gym (plastic water bottles only).
- No foul or abusive language.
- No dunking or hanging on basketball rims.
- Appropriate clothing attire required at all times (shirt, shoes, etc.)
- Court shoes only, no hiking boots, sandals, or street shoes.
- No spitting in water fountains, on floors, or walls.
- Be considerate to other participants.
- City of Mesa is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Tackle a new skill or find a new hobby with our special interest classes! Special interest classes are unique classes taught by private contractors, providing instruction on a variety of topics and disciplines for a variety of age groups.
All classes require payment to the City at the time of registration and a separate fee to the instructor due on the first day
