Discounts & Scholarships

We are committed to ensuring our programs are accessible to our residents by offering discounts and scholarships. The lists below provide information about our different options. If you have questions, please contact parksresreg@mesaaz.gov or call 480-644-7529

MRS Discount

The Mesa Recreation Scholarship (MRS) is a discounted 50% scholarship program designed to provide financial aid to people who receive the free or reduced lunch at school. Youth and adaptive participants who live in Mesa who qualify are eligible for a 50% discount on recreational activities.

If the 50% discount is not enough for you, please reach out to parksresreg@mesaaz.gov and we will do everything we can to enable you and your children to participate in our programs!

See if you qualify:

Submit the application, and provide proof of residency within the City of Mesa and on the the items below

  • A copy of an Eligibility Notification Letter from a school district showing eligibility for the Free or Reduced Lunch Program.
  • A copy of a verification document showing eligibility to any one of the following government assistance programs: Unemployment Insurance, Nutrition Assistance, WIC, or AHCCCS

Happy Camper

The Happy Camper campaign is a way to help all kids have the opportunity to attend a camp with us. We don’t want anyone to miss out on all the amazing activities like field trips, recreation games, arts and crafts, and endless fun! 

Donate to Mesa’s Happy Camper Donation Campaign to help send a kid to camp! There are 3 easy ways to donate:

  1. At Checkout: While registering your own family for activities, you can donate at checkout.
  2. Through the Foundation: Visit The Foundation for Mesa Parks and Recreation, click donate and select "Happy Camper" from the down drop list. 
  3. In Active: Click donations and donate now.

Making Waves Discount

The mission of the Making Waves program plays a key role in the reduction of child drowning incidents in Mesa through water safety education and teaching all children, regardless of socio-economic status, how to swim. The Making Waves scholarship program provides discounted learn-to-swim lessons and summer rec team registration to Mesa residents in need, all made possible by donations from the community.

To qualify for Making Waves, families must be Mesa Recreation Scholarship (MRS) recipients and provide proof of federal assistance before registering for activities.

Please Note: Registrations completed prior to MRS or Making Waves approval will not be considered for scholarships.

 

Qualified Making Waves participants can choose:

  • One swim lesson session for $5
  • One session of competitive teams for $10
  • One session of Jr. lifeguarding for $10 (Rhodes and Carson Pools only).
