Does the City Attorney’s Office represent private citizens?
The Mesa City Attorney’s office represents the Mayor, Council, and the City of Mesa. The City Attorney’s office does not represent private citizens, however, there are other legal resources that offer assistance, such as the Attorney General’s Office, Lawyer Referral, Legal Aid of Arizona, and the State Bar of Arizona.

Enforces consumer protection and civil rights laws, investigates consumer fraud as well as senior abuse and scams. Consumer (business) complaints can be filed with the Arizona Attorney General’s office. They also provide educational materials regarding identity theft, civil rights, life care planning, fair housing, employment discrimination, voting discrimination, and public accommodations.

Community Legal Services
Provides legal assistance, advice or representation; self-help materials and legal education so people can know their rights. They focus on helping survivors of domestic violence; assisting victims of consumer fraud and abuse; protecting tenants from unlawful/unfair practices by landlords; foreclosures; legal problems affecting agricultural workers, wage claims and other employment matters; and federal and state programs affecting peoples' health and economic stability.
They do not handle traffic tickets, criminal cases, child support, or personal injury and other cases in which an attorney may receive a fee.
