Organizational Excellence is our roadmap for improving the quality of life for Mesa through intentionally engaging employees to deliver services that meet the customer and business expectations.

Data & Performance offers programs, tools, and training to help employees effectively use performance improvement methodologies including data-informed decision making to achieve their desired outcomes and public purpose. In addition, Data & Performance informs the Mesa community on key results of Mesa’s priorities and how to harness our city’s data to continually improve our community.

Improving efficiency and transparency by making datasets available to the public via our online open data portal.

Management Analyst Team
A program designed for promising professionals that are interested in a career in public service. This is a permanent position that provides career development in local government while allowing individuals to develop and strengthen professional skills.

Technology Pilots
Connecting with the private sector to help solve community challenges and improve services to residents. 

Data Analytics
Analyzing our data assets that support analysis and creating valuable insights. 

Data Brokering
Facilitating the sharing and exchange of data between external organizations and city departments. 

Data Consultation
Helping departments build data models, perform data analytics and investigate new technologies. 

Power BI (Business Intelligence)
Using this powerful tool enables data analysis through interaction and dynamic visualizations. 

Agile
Providing employees with the tools and principles to identify problems, implement solutions and improve the quality and efficiency of government.

Combining datasets, words, images and video to provide context and meaning to data. 

Performance Management
Partnering with city leadership to establish and measure performance metrics.

Continuous Improvement - Helping departments continuously improve products, services, or processes using methodologies of Lean Six Sigma and behavioral insights. These efforts can seek “incremental” improvement over time or “breakthrough improvement all at once.”

Benchmarking - We participate in the Valley Benchmark Communities Consortium, a collaborative of 13 cities/towns in the Phoenix metropolitan area, created to share and compare information for the purpose of improving local government performance through an annual report - Valley Benchmark Report(PDF, 9MB)
