Last Alarm

Since our founding in 1898, nine Mesa firefighters have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our community. Each of these have been designated as a Line-of-Duty Death, recognized by their fellow Mesa Firefighters, The Mesa Fire and Medical Department, the City of Mesa, IAFF Local 2260, the State of Arizona, Arizona Professional Firefighters, and the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).

These heroic firefighters completed their last and final call and will forever watch over their fire department brothers and sisters. Their memories will live on in the hearts of those they so faithfully served and by the families they left behind.

In Memoriam

In addition to those identified as line-of-duty deaths, we also solemnly honor the lives and memory of all our other fire department family members who are no longer with us.

Firefighter's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God,
wherever flames may rage,
give me strength to save a life,
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late,
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert,
and hear the weakest shout,
quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling,
to give the best in me,
to guard my friend and neighbor,
and protect his property.
And if according to Your will
I must answer death's call,
bless with your protecting hand,
my family one and all.
