Special Victims Unit

Housed in the Mesa Family Advocacy Center, the Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) is dedicated to investigating and addressing crimes involving vulnerable victims, including sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and missing persons.  Detectives in the SVU received specialized training to handle sensitive cases with compassion and ensure that victims receive appropriate support.

The SVU utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach, collaborating with social services, medical professionals, and advocacy groups to provide a comprehensive response to victims’ needs.  Their work often involves gathering forensic evidence, conducting thorough investigations, interviewing victims and witnesses, and working with prosecutors to bring offenders to justice.

Missing Persons Unit

The Missing Persons Unit focuses on locating individuals who have been reported missing.  This unit employs specialized techniques for investigations, while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to locate missing individuals as quickly and safely as possible.
