Community Engagement Academy

The Community Engagement Academy (CEA) is a one-day experience that allows interested participants the opportunity to learn about police operations and obtain a personal view of what a day in the life of a police officer in their neighborhood is like. Community members participate in trainings, discussions, and presentations regarding Mesa Police Department policies, practices, and procedures. Community leaders are encouraged to attend!

Class curriculum may include:

  • Role of a police officer & police operations in your neighborhood.
  • Common policing scenarios and challenges.
  • Various policing topics from staff members.
  • Police training and Use of Force discussion.
  • Specialized policing units.
  • Police & City of Mesa community resource materials.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Reside or work in Mesa.
  • A background clearance is conducted prior to class start date.
