Community Connect
Mesa has always relied on the assistance of our community members to help fight crime and keep our city safe. Community Connect provides a new way for community members to partner with us in keeping our city safe. This voluntary program is a public-private community partnership with the Police Department, local businesses, and community members, blending real-time crime-fighting and community policing with state-of-the art technology to keep Mesa safe.
Real-Time Crime Sharing Option
Community Connect helps keep our city safe by allowing Mesa businesses to voluntarily share access to streaming video cameras on their premises providing real-time access when police/fire respond to an in progress crime or other emergency on their premises or nearby.
Businesses that take part in the Community Connect program work with a third-party vendor to become equipped with a cloud-based video surveillance software and HD security camera that allows them to view live and recorded security video of their stores from their laptop, tablet, or smartphone 24/7. They can also be directly connected to the police department and selectively share their security video stream when they need to, allowing officers to monitor video feeds during an incident.
High-quality detailed video not only provides timely information to responding officers, but also simplifies the ensuing investigation. Rather than having to wait several hours to make a transfer or grant access to video, business owners are able quickly share relevant video with officers, helping streamline investigation.
There are affordable costs associated with this option. To request further information please contact:

Camera Registry
Another way Community Connect does this is through a camera registry for businesses and community members to notify the Mesa Police Department that they have a surveillance camera on their premises that may potentially record any crimes that might have occurred in the area.
The registry does not allow the police department any real-time or streaming access to these privately owned camera systems, but does provide a communication platform for the police department to message registered camera owners, inquire if their cameras may have captured a crime when one is identified in close proximity to their premises and allow the camera owner to voluntarily share any recorded surveillance footage of a crime with the police department through a secure and electronic method. There is no cost to participate in this program.
