LEOSA Qualifications

Note: The Sig Sauer P320 pistol and all variants are NO LONGER ALLOWED at the Mesa Police Department Range. The Sig P365 and 'Classics" (P220, P226, etc.) series of pistols are still allowed to be used.

Mesa Police Department Firearms Training unit will provide AZPOST firearm qualifications and decision shoots for Mesa Police Department retirees only. There are several local organizations and instructors that will provide LEOSA qualifications to qualified retirees.

The qualifications will be held on the first Thursday of each month (excluding any holidays or other unforeseen issues) at the Mesa Police Firing Range, 2550 N. Center St., Mesa AZ 85201 at 1:00 p.m.

Retiree must bring their own ammo, no less than 100 rounds, and at least 3 magazines total or 2 extra speed-loaders for revolvers. A suitable holster and magazine/speed-loader pouches are required. The retiree must shoot a minimum score of 210 out of 250 per state law to pass the qualification.

The decision shoot is held using a MILO simulator. The only equipment needed for MILO is your holster.

Arizona POST requires all active LEO and LEOSA retirees to shoot the new Arizona State pistol qualification. Please see this document(PDF, 84KB) to familiarize yourself with the course of fire. The scoring has changed. The maximum score is 200. Retirees will have to shoot a minimum of 170 to pass the qualification.
