Mesa Electric Vehicle (EV) Time of Use (TOU) Rate

This rate provides EV drivers who charge their vehicle at home in the city's electric territory an incentive to charge during the hours when electricity is cheapest and most abundant: between 11PM and 5AM (Super Off Peak Hours). Customers with an EV or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and programmable EV charger who drive a significant number of daily miles will be able to save money charging their vehicle and help all electric customers avoid higher electricity costs by reducing electric loads during peak hours. SRP customers, please visit their website.

How It Works

This rate enables you to save money by charging your vehicle during off-peak and super off-peak hours (see below). This applies to your EV as well as pool equipment and any other large appliance where use can be shifted to off hours. Additionally, pricing per kilowatt hour is lower on weekends. If you do not drive a significant number of miles daily or cannot charge during off-peak hours, this rate may not save you money.

How to Get the Best Results from Switching to EV TOU

  • You own or lease a qualified battery electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle
  • You can charge your EV at home between 11PM and 5AM
  • You can conserve energy at home during on peak hours, when energy is more expensive to purchase
  • You drive your EV a significant number of miles daily

Pricing

Energy is priced per kilowatt-hour (kWh) and the price varies based on when electricity is used. On this rate, monthly electric charges reflect how much energy you’ve used during your billing cycle and at what time.
