Recycle your Christmas Tree

Learn about keeping live trees out of the landfill with our drop-off recycling program.

Thanks to advancements in technology and equipment at our recycling vendor's sorting facility, we are pleased to announce an expanded list of accepted recycling items. Mesa's Blue Barrel Recycling now includes:

  • Cans - Metal food cans, aluminum beverage cans.
  • Cardboard - Clean and flat cardboard. Remove all packing material and dispose of those items in regular trash.
  • Paper - Paperboard (empty cereal boxes, tissue boxes, soda boxes and prepared food boxes), mail, newspaper, magazines, office paper.
  • Plastic - Water bottles, juice bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, soap and shampoo bottles, clamshell produce containers, yogurt and margarine containers, condiment bottles.
  • Glass - Bottles and jars of all colors.

Recycling Best Practices

  • Do not bag recyclables.
  • Items should be empty, clean and dry.
  • Remove foam and plastic material from boxes.
  • Labels and lids may be left on.
  • Do not recycle greasy pizza boxes.
  • Shredded paper is not recyclable. Please bag and discard as trash.
  • Batteries and barrels do not mix. Always take batteries to a qualified drop-off or take-back program. See the Household Hazardous Materials Program.
