FAQ
How do I register online with VSP?
Registering your account at VSP is easy. Simply follow these steps to register:
- Go to vsp.com
- Click the "Create an account" link on the top right of your screen
- Enter the employee/retiree information
- The member ID is not the SSN. Member ID will be the employee ID preceded by 4 or 5 zero’s to make a total nine-digit number. For example, 000099999
Why don't I have a Vision Plan ID card?
Vision Service Plan does not issue ID cards to members and you are not required to have one in order to access vision plan services and coverage, as long as you know your vision plan member ID number. Your member ID number is your City issued employee ID number preceded by 4 or 5 zeroes to make a total 9-digit number e.g. City ID numbers are currently either 4 or 5 digits long; if your ID number is 5 digits, then add 4 zeroes before that number to produce your VSP member ID number; if your ID number is 4 digits, then add 5 zeroes before that number to produce your VSP member ID number.
If you want a wallet size card that gives you basic information about your vision plan, you can print out an “ID card” from the VSP website, www.vsp.com after you register/member username and a password. The card will tell you the name of the plan you have selected, whether you have single or family coverage and some of the copays that may apply, plus web and phone numbers to contact VSP directly. Simply log into the website using your member username and password. You will see an option to View Member ID Card on the home page. Click on this link to view, save, print or email the ID card for future use. Remember, the ID card will not have your VSP member ID number on it, but there is space on a print-out to write than on for yourself for future reference.
