Funding Process Details

Due to the harm caused by the opioid epidemic to the people of Arizona, the Attorney General initiated litigation to hold the pharmaceutical industry accountable for its role in perpetuating the crisis. As a result of more than ten settlements, Arizona will receive over $1.14 billion.

The City of Mesa has entered into an agreement to receive distributions from this funding. This agreement is known as the One Arizona Agreement. The City of Mesa has allocated $1.0 million of the funding it has received to a community grant program. This funding will be awarded to agencies with programs to address the opioid crisis in Mesa.

Funding Allocations

The City's Opioid Settlement Fund monies are available to agencies that provide Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) services to Mesa residents focusing on the following areas:

  • Prevention and Education

  • Early Intervention and Treatment

  • Harm Reduction and Rescue

  • Recovery and Resiliency

Funds can be used for programs that target any population. Priority will be given to those programs that impact children and youth.
