Cockpit Close-Up is a FREE event to be held 8-10 a.m. the first Saturday of each month. November's event will be held Saturday, November 4 at the airport terminal building, 4800 E. Falcon Drive.
The event features volunteer pilots based at Falcon Field and their private aircraft. On November 4 the featured pilots will be adult and youth members of Civil Air Patrol Falcon Squadron 305.
The event will also feature information about Falcon Field Airport and the Civil Air Patrol program.
Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a private, non-profit (501C) humanitarian organization and is the auxiliary of the United States Air Force. CAP members are civilian volunteers although the organization and uniforms are modeled after the US Air Force.
CAP performs three U.S. Congress chartered missions:
- emergency services that conduct a majority of air search and rescue within the contiguous 48 states;
- aerospace education for youth and the general public; and
- cadet programs for youth
CAP also supports the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as other state and local government entities and non-governmental organizations in search and rescue and airborne photography. CAP provides qualified pilots training in search techniques, mountain flying clinic, and overall safety in flying and crew resource management (CRM).
