Whether it’s your front yard, your neighbor’s or the community park down the street, they all reflect the landscape of the City of Mesa. The uniform setbacks of the buildings created a sense of openness across the front yards, particularly as there were no fences along property lines. Trees and shrubs added to the park-like feeling. The open land on boulevards enhanced these features.

As Mesa grew, the significance of the landscape continued. Thoughtful consideration was given to the details of sidewalks and curbs. As residents’ appreciation of neighborhoods increase, special attention needs to be given to the retention of these landscapes that surround our historic buildings.
