A city inspector conducts the requested examination based on the approved plans and adopted City of Mesa Codes and Ordinances.

Approved inspections allow work to continue to the next phase.

Failed inspections required corrections and the inspection to be rescheduled. The list of inspection corrections will be viewable through the DIMES record. After completing the corrections, the customer must schedule for a re-inspection. Upon passing the re-inspection, work may continue to the next stage.

Depending on result, the permit applicant will receive an email from the DIMES system. Be sure to check spam files for the email as it comes from noreply@MesaAZ.gov.  

All required inspections must be conducted, and the construction approved before occupancy will be allowed.

The final inspection is conducted when work on the project is completed. This includes all off-site (right-of-way) and on-site (lot) improvements, if applicable.

When the project is completed, the permit will be closed.

3. Click the dropdown arrow next to Record Info
4. Select Attachments
5. Click the hyperlink to view, download and print documents

Log into your online account (DIMES) and enter the permit number in the search box.

1. Use the down arrow under “record info” to find “inspections”.
2. Under inspections, you will find “schedule or request inspection” and select the type of inspection.
3. Select the date, time and then “continue”.
4. Enter notes for the inspector if necessary and then select “finish”.
5. Your inspection is now scheduled.

The Virtual Inspection program allows residents to have certain residential construction inspected at a scheduled time via live video app. Because the inspector can inspect your work via video app, you're not at the mercy of unexpected travel or other delays that can hold up an inspector and keep you waiting.

Here’s how it works:
Residents or contractors use a smart phone with front and rear cameras (with 4G or wi-fi connection) to send a live video feed of the completed work to an inspector at a specific agreed upon time. Once the video link is established, you simply follow the inspector's instructions on where to point the camera.

Scheduling a video Inspection
Once you have scheduled your inspection (either online or over the phone), the day of the inspection, use the Explore Map to search by location for your address to obtain your building inspector name and cell phone number.

The inspector will verify your inspection is eligible (based on the inspection list below) for a virtual inspection and schedule an inspection time. At the inspection time, the inspector will send you a link for the inspection and complete the inspection. Inspection results will be entered into the city website and available for you to review.
