We are committed to promoting inclusion in all our initiatives, programs, and services for the Mesa community and our employees.

We work with cultural, community, and faith-based groups, colleges and universities, non-profit organizations, neighborhoods, employee groups, and other city agencies and departments to build relationships that help to identify and address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues through programming opportunities.

Andrea Alicoate, Director of Diversity & Engagement, is designated to serve as the Ombudsperson for the public. The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Elevating concerns and program opportunities related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) in Mesa

  • Serving as Mesa’s Section 504/ ADA Coordinator

  • Serving as Mesa’s Title VI/ Civil Rights Coordinator

  • Serving as a member of the Regional Human Relations Committee

  • Serving as the point of contact for Mesa's LGBTQ+ community
